The Pitt repeats and Jean Smart ties Emmy history
Rhea Seehorn finally won, Mariska Hargitay hosted, and John Mulaney stole the show.
At the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday night, The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series for the second year in a row, and Noah Wyle repeated his lead actor win. Rhea Seehorn finally got her moment too. She was nominated twice for Better Call Saul without winning, but this year she won lead actress for Pluribus.
Jean Smart also made history. Her eighth career Emmy tied Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman for the most ever by a performer, and she closed her speech by calling it quite a ride.
The show itself got mixed reviews. Mariska Hargitay was the first female Emmy host in 15 years, and Taylor Swift showed up in a pretaped Law & Order sketch as a cop. The funniest moment might have been John Mulaney, who turned a quick presenter bit into a nonstop rant, including a joke about DJ Khaled that got censored right away.
